An interactive gravity orb I made in flash. I used a gravity engine I made for a game I'm working on in a group for computer animation.

Mode 1 sets the ground as the point of gravity.
Mode 2 sets the mouse cursor as the point of gravity. Click to activate it, release to let the orb fly.

Not really much point to this. Just for practice.

This is really cool!

Could you do one that has different gravity-level settings, for instance, how would the ball bounce if gravity were only half as strong? Twice as strong?

it's shockingly simple. it's more sophisticated than this now, however.

my brain and my fingers? it went something like this... but more refined...
=============
root for mode 1 at 640x480:
gravity=.3;
------------------
obj. ball for mode 1:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
yvelocity-=_root.gravity;
this._y+=_root.gravity;
if(this._y<480-this.height){
this._y=480-this.height;
yvelocity=-yvelocity;
}
}
============
obj. ball for mode 2:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
if(this._x<_root._xmouse)
xvelocity-=1;
if(this._x>_root._xmouse)
xvelocity+=1;
if(this._y<_root._ymouse)
yvelocity-=1;
if(this._y>_root._ymouse)
yvelocity+=1;
this._x+=xvelocity;
this._y+=yvelocity;
if(this._x<0+this.width){
this._x=0+this.width;
xvelocity=-xvelocity;
}
if(this._x>640-this.width){
this._x=640-this.width;
xvelocity=-xvelocity;
}
if(this._y<0+this.height){
this._y=0+this.height;
yvelocity=-yvelocity;
}
if(this._y>480-this.height){
this._y=480-this.height;
yvelocity=-yvelocity;
}
}
===========
this code is completely untested, so just use it as a guide.

For better hit detection on the floor you should add the y velocity of the ball to the _y position so it bounces right when it touches the bottom instead of going through the bottom then bouncing (as you can see it do now).

need to add x-axis movement to gravity 1. I really like2. Ive seen this in an elasticity turorial before.

i haven't figured out how to add it in 1 yet, except by switching back over to 1 after setting one in 2.
